Why Kindling Resilience?

Every individual, couple, and family face the occasional (or ongoing) trauma of life. For some this produces a fear of commitment, fear of intimacy, sexual insecurity, doubts about one’s own sexuality, fear of how others will see you, accept you.
Resilience is about how we bounce back from trauma, treat trauma’s effects, find strength within ourselves, learn to forgive ourselves, love ourselves, build non-toxic loving relationships, and grow happier in the process.
When we kindle resilience we live a life of love and peace, free from fear and anxiety.

I am a “pastoral” counselor. This means I help guide, I listen, I pray with and for you, I support you, and again, and most importantly, I provide a safe space to genuinely listen.
I am a pastoral “counselor.” This means I am not a psychologist or psychiatrist. I offer counseling not therapy. Most counseling relationships last a visit or two, to maybe a few months, but hardly ever years of therapy. For that kind of care, I provide referrals.
If, however, you are feeling strong and positive, ready for commitment, and ready to marry your partner, I offer pre-marital counseling, which is strongly recommended for every couple. If you’ve never been married you may not be thinking about how family histories can impact your relationship, the role of money, and other things like intimacy, that should at lease be discussed. I am certified in SYMBIS (Save Your Marriage Before It Starts) assessment as well as Prepare/Enrich which is designed as both a pre-marital and marriage counseling tools. After all, even the best of couples could use a tweak now and then.
Lastly, I want you to know that I am a Baptist Minister and a Catholic Deacon. I can offer mixed services or officiate at your wedding as you decide best for you and your loved ones. But please note, I’m not THAT kind of Baptist and I’m not THAT kind of Catholic. Christ’s table is open to all, divorced, gay, straight, lesbian, trans, queer. Here you are welcomed, loved, and cherished.

You are not alone! Be not afraid!
